Executive Summary:
Salt Lake County organizations accept credit and debit cards
(payment cards) for a wide variety of services. In 2016, County agencies
processed $87,856,620 in payment card transactions. The Payment Card Industry
(PCI) Data Security Standard is a set of 12 requirements created and maintained
by the PCI Security Standard Council to protect the public’s cardholder data
and help decrease the likelihood of payment card fraud. This audit examines County entities’ that
accept payment cards to determine if they met the appropriate PCI DSS
compliance validation requirements during 2017.
