The goal of aikido is to find peaceful solutions to problems. Aikido philosophy shows students how to avoid direct confrontation when faced with an attack.
Real skill in aikido lies in coordinating the mind and body. Benefits of regular training include increased concentration, calmness, confidence, balance, self-awareness and coordination. Aikido teaches people not to be afraid of a fight. It offers non-fighting alternatives for conflict resolution. It also focuses on how to be present in the moment, how to be a good person and how to respect others. Development of focus, etiquette, basic body movements, discipline and empathy are taught in a traditional class structure. As students increase in skill, philosophy and understanding human interactions become a larger part of training.
