Darwin Christopher Bagshaw Pleads Guilty in 2012 Murder of Anne
Salt Lake City, UT – The Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office announced today
that Darwin “Chris” Bagshaw has pleaded guilty to one count of Murder in the
Third District Court for the 2012 murder of Anne Kasprzak. Sentencing is
scheduled for April 25, 2016 at 2 p.m. before Judge Blanch.
Kasprzak, who was 15 at the time of her death, was reported
missing from her Riverton home on March 10, 2012. Her body was discovered the
following day in the Jordan River.
The charge, a First Degree Felony, carries a sentence of 15 years
to life. Bagshaw, now 18, was a minor at the time of Kasprzak’s death.
The District Attorney’s Office filed a motion on Oct. 15, 2014 to certify
Bagshaw as an adult in the Third District Juvenile Court. After preliminary and
certification hearings, the Court granted the motion, allowing Bagshaw to be
tried as an adult in the Third District Court. The trial was scheduled to begin
on March 7, 2016, before Judge Blanch.
The Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office extends its

Department and all agencies that diligently assisted in the investigation and
prosecution of this case.
