Statement Regarding David Wilde
Wilde, husband, father, colleague, friend, attorney, and public servant who
tirelessly served the citizens of Salt Lake County for many years, passed away
early this morning surrounded by family in his Murray home. David was a
well-respected lawyer who was elected by the citizens of District 3 to serve as
their representative on the County Council in 2000. He continued in that
role until January 1, 2013, when he stepped down to accept a position in the
District Attorney’s Office as Chief Policy Advisor.
was an extraordinary public servant,” said District Attorney Sim Gill.
“He represented District 3 with distinction. When he joined our office he
assumed responsibility for a large portfolio and several difficult
projects. Over the last several years I had the pleasure of working with
David on various projects and discuss public policy. His work product and
ethic were exemplary. He was a passionate advocate of fairness and fiscal
responsibility. David insisted on working until the very end while
maintaining his sense of humor and concern about the office. While the
citizens of Salt Lake County have lost a great asset, I have lost a respected
colleague and friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with David’s wife,
Linda, his children and grandchildren. He will be terribly missed.”
