County Values

Salt Lake County Values

So, you’ve seen the banners hanging in the North and South building atriums and maybe you’ve received some cool bookmarks with core values on them—what’s all this about?

Salt Lake County's Core Values

  • We Care about one another
  • We serve with Integrity
  • We value and Respect people
  • We strive for Excellence

The County's core values discussion has been underway for the past couple years. Nearly 400 people participated in the development of these statements through large meetings and smaller focus groups all centered upon what core values unite us as an organization – what do we believe in together. Although we talked about focusing on employees, customers, quality and many other aspects, we recognized that core to all were caring, respect, integrity and excellence.

  1. We value leadership and are committed to serve as an example of innovation, creativity, and change management.
  2. We value and are committed to strategically partnering with agencies to address their needs and provide human resource related services quickly and effectively to enable them to achieve their goals and objectives.
  3. We value and are committed to build relationships so as to create cooperation, empowerment, and shared responsibility.
  4. We value trust and will earn the confidence and respect of others through honesty, integrity, objectivity, and credibility.
  5. We value openness to foster an environment of respect in a culturally diverse workforce.
  6. We value and are committed to continuous quality improvement.
