Isshinryu Karate was developed during WWII on the island of Okinawa by Master Tatsuo Shimabuku. It was brought to the United States by American Marines who learned it while serving on the small island. It was developed as a practical form of Self Defense, designed to compliment the natural movements of the human body. There are no complicated moves or flashy kicks. It is considered to be one of the most comprehensive karate systems available.
