Mayor Ben McAdams
In an effort reduce crime and promote public safety, the County Council voted to approve Mayor McAdams' plan to maintain the existing tax rate created by a 1995 jail construction bond and direct these dollars into the county’s criminal and social justice system reforms.
Salt Lake County will receive $9.4 million annually devoted solely for criminal justice programs to reduce crime and the costly problem of offenders revolving in and out of jail. This reinvestment means an addition $2 per year on the average Salt Lake County homeowner.
