Dimple Dell Regional Park Improvements

Improvements to Dimple Dell Regional Park are underway to enhance patron experience, preserve the natural environment and increase safety within the park.

Funding for these projects is made possible by Salt Lake County voters and the 2016 ZAP 3 Parks & Recreation Bond.

  • 300 East Trailhead:
    • Complete and in use.
  • Wrangler Parking Lot and Picnic Area:
    • Open for public use.
    • Restroom closed for construction.
  • Badger Parking Lot/Picnic Areas:
    • Completion Status: Finished.
    • Opening Status: Closed for the winter season.
    • Restroom closed for construction.

  • New and/or renovated accessible restrooms at the following trailheads: New trailhead and parking lot, Dimple Dell Road, and Wrangler
  • Renovated restrooms for year-round use at Dimple Dell Road and Wrangler 

  • Accessible picnic area at Wrangler Trailhead
  • ADA stalls and accessible route to restrooms at Dimple Dell Road Trailhead
  • Improved parking area at 300 East
  • New trailhead kiosks, wayfinding signage, and interpretive areas
  • New trailhead near Lone Peak Park

  • Adding one additional fire hydrant and repair of fire access gates

 

Anticipated Completion:

June 2023

  • Three test plot areas that have been negatively impacted by invasive species will inform the process for re-establishing native plants throughout the park.
    • Specialized equipment with rotary cutters will be used to safely mow grasses and invasive species—these machines do not till or dig
    • Test plots will be roped or fenced off to control the test site and allow for uninterrupted reestablishment of native seed mixes

  • Improvements to the Spencer House

  • Natural restoration and removal of the amphitheater near Dimple Dell Road
  • Wood chip maintenance on soft-surface trails
  • Parking lot resurfacing with gravel at Dimple Dell Road and Mount Jordan trailheads
  • Year-Round restroom at Dimple Dell Road trailhead
  • ADA stalls and accessible route to restrooms at Dimple Dell Road trailhead
  • Fall fire prevention event near The Villages at Dimple Dell
  • Establishing baseline plant data and seeding of all three test plot areas
  • Water management infrastructure improvements including well and pump house repairs
  • Poulson House site Master Plan
  • Removing invasive species from the pond and restoring water levels for fire response
  • Some areas (Larkspur and Flanders Point) within the test plots will have temporary irrigation installed

NOTE: Improvements will take place in accordance with weather, contractor schedules, and permits. Expect to see various contractors, and necessary equipment, in the park throughout the duration of these improvement projects.
