The Wasatch Canyons are one of the most defining features of the Salt Lake Valley. Millions of people visit the canyons each year in search of breathtaking scenery, fresh powder, wildlife, solitude, and more. This precious resource is important to
residents and visitors alike.
As the County’s million-plus population continues to grow, it is critically important to plan for our canyons so they can be enjoyed by all for future generations.
Salt Lake County is currently updating the Wasatch Canyons General Plan (
last adopted in 1989). The purpose of this plan is to guide future development and preservation in the canyons.
This process is expected to take two years to complete (2017 – 2019). The public is encouraged to get involved by providing feedback and suggestions along the way.
