Salt Lake county provides several aquatic opportunities for individuals with disabilities:
Inclusive Swim Lessons
You can register for swim lessons at any of the Salt Lake County Pools and make an inclusion request. Reasonable accommodations will be provided based on need and may include providing an aid to help your child participate in the swim lessons, allowing a parent or sibling to be in the water, or using additional teaching tools.
If inclusion is not the best setting for your child, email to discuss placement and accommodations.
There is no additional fees for accommodations so please don't hesitate to ask!
Otters Swim Club
Learn to swim or improve your stroke! Join the Otters Swim Club which was developed for youth 3 - 18 years with Autism spectrum disorder or intellectual disabilities.
Otters is year round in 4-week sessions at various pools around the county. Ask your local pool when the next session starts and if there's not a group currently running, request that the pool start one.
