What should I wear?
Dress for warmth by layering your clothes
Remember to bring your gloves and a hat
Comfort and the ability to move freely are very important
We suggest close fitting but not tight pants. Sweat pants, leggings, or warm up pants are ideal
Your feet will feel best if you wear one pair of lightweight socks or tights
Our program strongly recommends the use of helmets (available for rent at $1.00 per day)
What about skates?
Skate rentals are included (during lessons) with your Learn to Skate registration.
The boot should provide a snug fit. If the boot is too big, it will not provide the necessary support. If the boot is too small, OUCH. You will experience great discomfort. Proper fit is essential to success in skating. The SLC Sports Complex provides rental skates to help acquaint you with figure or hockey skates.
How long are classes?
Classes are 30 minutes long with 15 minute practice time. At the end of each session, skaters are tested on the skills they have learned. If you pass the test you can register for the next level. If you fail the test, we suggest taking the same skill level over.
What happens if I miss a class?
There are no make-up classes or refunds for those that are missed.
