Salt Lake County Youth Services to host Lights On Afterschool Celebration
SALT LAKE COUNTY, UT
– On October 17th, Salt Lake County Youth Services will be joining a nationwide celebration by hosting Lights On Afterschool 2016 at Matheson Junior High from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The purpose of the event is to increase awareness on afterschool programs, explain the importance and benefits they bring to youth and families, describe how they have been able to provide safety for the youth during after school hours and how have they have expanded around the Greater Salt Lake area offering different locations within the county.
Danielle Latta, Salt Lake County Youth Services Afterschool Program Manager explained, “by keeping the lights on after school, we are providing a safe place for our youth. Afterschool gives them a place to get help with their homework, learn new things and make new friends and to stay out of trouble.”WHO:

The division offers 15 programs to Salt Lake County residents including substance abuse treatment, residential shelter care for youth 0 to 18, housing for young adults 18-22, after school programs, short and long-term individual and family counseling, juvenile receiving centers, and resources for homeless youth.
