FAQ

How old do you have to be to participate in activities?

With every program offered, there is an age range for individuals who are able register. We offer programs for most age ranges. The age range is determined by the Adaptive Recreation Coordinator based on the appropriateness of the activity.

How do I register for a program or activity?

Register online: choose the recreation center that is going to be running the program, then choose the program from the list of activities.

Register in person: each program flyer will give detailed instructions on how and what recreation center to register at.

Do you have to live in Salt Lake County to participate in the adaptive programs?

No, we encourage anyone who is interested to register for our programs. The fee is the same no matter where you live.

What types of programs do you offer?

We offer recreational programs for people with physical and intellectual disabilities. Our physical disability programs teach the basics of many Paralympic style sports. These sports include: rugby, basketball, boccia, goalball, archery, swimming and many others. Our intellectual disability programs focus on social skill develop, along with Special Olympic style sports. These sports include: basketball, soccer, swimming, bowling, and many others. The number one thing we offer in all of our programs is FUN!

Can my child join any Salt Lake County Parks & Recreation Program?

Yes, we provide inclusion for all people with disabilities in our programs. Please feel free to register your child for any Salt Lake County Parks & Recreation program. If you feel your child will need additional support to succeed in the program, please contact  the Inclusion Manager by email or (385) 468-1520.
