General Rules

  • In compliance with the Utah Clean Air Act smoking, smokeless tobacco, and vaping (e-cigarettes) are all prohibited in or around our buildings and park spaces.
  • All patrons and visitors must check in/slide membership card at the front desk.
  • Food and beverages are not allowed in the Fitness Area or Gym with the exception of capped, spill-proof, non-glass water bottles.
  • Possession of illegal drugs, beer, and alcoholic beverages is prohibited on the premises.
  • Foul and abusive language is unacceptable.
  • Abuse and/or misuse of County property and equipment is unacceptable. Violators will be held financially responsible for damages and losses. Any area in which the above rules are violated will be subject to closure. Violators will be asked to leave the premises and action may result in entry privileges being suspended or revoked.
  • LOCKER ROOM AGE POLICY:  Children 4 and under may enter the locker room with a parent, regardless of their gender. Children 5 and over may only use the locker room of their gender. Anyone may use the family change rooms at any time.
  • No bare feet allowed outside of locker rooms with the exception of organized classes such as karate and gymnastics.
  • Lockers are for day use only. Lockers which are not cleared at the end of the day will have the lock cut off and all items will be removed and bagged for pick-up. There will be a two (2) week holding period at which time all items found will be sent to an establishment which collects and resells used merchandise.
  • Patrons are fully responsible for personal items that are lost, stolen, or damaged at the Fitness Center. Books, bags, coats, and personal items should be kept in a locker and are not allowed in activity areas. Patrons are responsible for bringing their own lock when using the lockers.
  • Patrons may not display actions that the Center Staff deem unsportsmanlike or rude.
  • Misuse, moving, or altering any portion of the Center property is prohibited. Persons with infectious diseases are prohibited from using the facility. Open wounds must be covered.
  • All children under the age of ten (10) must be accompanied by an adult (age 18 or older) in all areas of the facility at all times.
  • Please use only the parking areas immediately adjacent to our facilities.
  • Patrons and visitors shall abide by the rules and regulations of their Center. People found in violation of these rules may have their Center privileges suspended or revoked.

Fitness Rules

  • Patrons must be 16 year or older to use the fitness areas. We offer a free weight room certification program for 14 and 15 year olds. The class for weight room certification is offered when the fitness attendant is in the weight room.
  • Work-out clothes including athletic shoes and a shirt must be worn at all times. No jeans, pants with rivets, belt loops, belts, or opened toed shoes or sandals are allowed. It is recommended that backpacks, coats, and personal items be stored off the fitness floor in lockers.
  • Only capped, spill-proof water bottles are allowed. No gum, food, or other drinks are permitted.
  • All equipment is first come first served. During peak times there is a 30-minute time limit on cardio equipment. Please do not do multiple sets on weight machines during busy times.
  • Use spotters and spring clamps when using free weights.
  • Please wipe down equipment after use.
  • Please rack free weights when you are finished.
  • Slamming or dropping of weights is not tolerated.
  • Lifting chalk and/or powder is not allowed in the Center.
  • Offensive or hostile language and/or swearing is not allowed anywhere in the Center.
  • Please do not spit on any equipment in the facility.
  • Personal Trainers must be on contract with Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation.

Gym Rules

  • All persons must register at the front desk before using any portion of the facility including the gym.
  • Hanging on basketball rims is prohibited.
  • Wear only shoes that do not mark the gym floor.
  • Only capped, spill-proof water bottles are allowed. No gum, food or other drinks.
  • Offensive language or behavior, roughhousing, and fighting will not be tolerated.
  • Basketballs and other equipment may be checked out at the front desk. Picture ID is required for checkout / rentals.
  • Facility use may be suspended or revoked at any time.

Ice Rink Rules

  • General Ice Rink Rules apply to all Ice Rink Patrons and at all times.
  • No food or beverages are allowed on the ice, except plastic bottles of water.
  • Skaters shall be alert as to other skaters at all times and yield to slower skaters.
  • Private coaches and instructors must be licensed with Salt Lake County before coaching or instructing in a County facility.
  • Lessons during Public Skate sessions are allowed, however rink personnel may cancel scheduled lessons at their discretion. If ten or more public skaters are present during a Public Skate session, coaches must either skate with the flow of traffic or stay in the center of the ice (between blue lines and the red dots).
  • During Public Skate sessions, skaters may not cut across the ice, do any high speed maneuvers, or go in the opposite direction of skating traffic.
  • Before entering the ice, skaters must pay for their session and show their receipt to the Facility Ice Monitor. Except goalies participating in the Stick & Puck or Drop-In sessions do not have to pay for the session.
  • Video recording skaters is prohibited.

Freestyle Session Rules

  • Freestyle sessions are open to skaters to train on specific figure skating skills such as jumps, choreography, dance or MITF.
  • Freestyle skater patrons must yield to other skaters' jumping patterns and to skaters whose program is playing.
  • At the discretion of Ice Rink personnel during a busy session, skaters skating in program may be required to wear a sash.
  • Stopping or standing is not allowed on the ice, however, skaters and coaches may stop or stand next to ice rink boards.
  • Coaching may only be done by Salt Lake County-licensed coaches.
  • Audio headphones may not be worn on the ice, however coaches working on choreography may use headphones for that limited purpose.
  • Skaters must wait their turn to have their program played. Programs shall be played according to the order they are left in the box, however skaters in lessons will have priority placement. Skaters may play their music once per session or until all skaters have played their own music. All programs shall be played from start to finish.
  • Skaters must practice their skills in the designated zones. Corners of the ice are designated as Lutz zones. The center of the ice is the designated spinning zone.
  • Parents and spectators may view freestyle sessions from the lobby or bleachers.

Stick & Puck Session Rules

  • Stick & Puck sessions are open to no more than 25 skaters and up to three goalies of any age and ability to practice specific hockey skills.
  • Scrimmaging is not allowed during Stick & Puck sessions.
  • During Stick & Puck sessions, skaters and goalies must wear helmets, hockey skates and gloves. Skaters and goalies under age 18 must wear a face mask. Full hockey equipment is recommended but not required.

Drop-in Hockey Session Rules 

  • Drop-in Hockey Sessions are open to no more than 30 skaters and up to three goalies age 15 and older of any ability.
  • Scrimmaging is allowed during Drop-in Hockey sessions.
  • Full Hockey equipment is required; however face masks are not required for skaters aged 18 and older.
  • If 30 skaters or three goalies are present for Drop-in hockey, additional skaters shall use the waiting list and shall be accommodated on a first-come-first-served basis.
  • No coaching or instruction is allowed during Drop-in hockey sessions.


Pool Rules

Health and Safety Rules

  • A cleansing shower must be taken before entering the pool and after each use of the restroom.
  • DIAPER POLICY ENFORCED: Children 2 and under or wearing diapers must wear a commercial swim diaper and tight fitting rubber pants regardless.  All other diapers are prohibited in the pool.  Swim diapers are available for purchase at the customer service desk.
  • LOCKER ROOM AGE POLICY:  Children 4 and under may enter the locker room with a parent, regardless of their gender. Children 5 and over may only use the locker room of their gender. Anyone may use the family change rooms at any time. 
  • A person with bandages, blisters, cuts, rashes, stitches, and/or communicable diseases is prohibited from using the pool.
  • All accidents, however minor, must be report to a lifeguard on duty.
  • Outside food or drink is prohibited. Food or drink sold in the pool area is allowed in designated area areas only and is prohibited within 10 feet of the pool. Glass containers are prohibited.
  • Smoking and Vaping are prohibited.
  • The use of the pool while under the influence of alcohol or impairing drugs is prohibited.

Behavior Rules

  • Diving into the pool from the deck is allowed in designated deep water areas only.
  • Jumping or diving backwards, spinning, and flipping off the edge of the pool are not allowed.
  • Children under the age of 6 must be accompanied in the water at all times and stay within arm’s reach of a parent, guardian, or chaperone 14 years of age or older. Chaperone must be in a swim suit. This rule applies even if the child is wearing a life jacket. 
  • Children 6-9 years of age must be supervised in the pool area by a parent, guardian, or chaperone at least 14 years of age or older.
  • Lap swimmers under 14 years of age must be supervised by a parent, guardian, or chaperone at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Swimsuits or appropriate swimwear must be worn. Swimming in street clothing such as cut-off sweat pants, jeans, t- shirts or any clothing made of cotton fabric etc. is prohibited.
  • There may be safety breaks when the entire pool will be cleared.
  • Sitting, hanging, or playing on safety ropes, ramps or ladders is prohibited.
  • Running on the deck, shoulder riding, and rough play are prohibited.
  • Offensive, disrespectful or unruly behavior, profanity, and abusive language are prohibited.
  • No cameras or cell phones allowed in the water.

Equipment Rules

  • Properly-fitted Coast Guard-approved life jackets are only allowed in water 5 feet deep or less. Life jackets are not allowed in water deeper than 5 feet or on slides.
  • Only Coast guard approved floatation devices are allowed.
  • Lifeguard staff must approve all play toys and flotation devices brought into the pool area.
  • Kick boards and pull buoys are for lap swimmers only.
  • Must be 18 or older and be able to swim to use a noodle for exercise only.
  • No Mermaid Tails or Mono Finns.
