Columbus Senior Center is located in a historic school building designed by C.S. McDonald in 1916, in the Spanish Colonial Revival style. The facility has played many different roles in the community but now houses the Columbus Senior Center, the Columbus Library and South Salt Lake City Parks & Recreation. Many of our participants grew up in the area and attended school here
Columbus Senior Center is a center for active adults (60 + yrs.) who want to remain active and healthy as they age.
Columbus Senior Center is a partnership between South Salt Lake City and Salt Lake County Aging & Adult Services. In January 2015, Columbus Senior Center became Nationally Accredited by the National Council on Aging and the National Institute of Senior Centers. This means we have met a high standard of excellence with our programs and activities for seniors who wish to remain active.
Do you have a special talent you would like to share? Volunteering is the foundation of Columbus Senior Center’s success. We have numerous opportunities to volunteer at the Center and serve the community.
Columbus Senior Center has something for everyone. We host at least one exercise class a day with EnhanceFitness, University of Utah Intern’s weight training class, Tai Chi, modified Yoga, Line Dancing, Pickle Ball and Ping Pong to name a few. If you want to be more social come join our book club, BINGO, choir, chess, card games, Wii Bowling or make new friends over lunch. Every month we host local medical professionals who present relevant topics to seniors, we have free medical screenings and a yearly health fair. Challenge your mind with free one on one computer classes or Brain Games.
Come join us for fun, food & friends.
