Aimee Winder Newton
Aimee Winder Newton has been serving on the Salt Lake County Council since January 2014 and served as council chair in 2018.
During her service on the council, Aimee has focused on breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty, increasing government transparency, improving the criminal justice system, advocating for mental health resources and pushing for greater budget accountability. Other issues she is concerned with include growth, housing affordability, infrastructure investment and air quality.
Aimee has been a small business owner since 2003. She has been involved in the community for over 25 years – serving as a planning commissioner, school community council member, and city communications director and economic development marketing advisor. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Utah.
Aimee and her husband, Matt, have been married for 26 years and have four children ages 23, 21, 17 and 15 (as well as a lovely daughter-in-law and a cute grand puppy). In her spare time she loves to help women get involved in government, play the piano, and travel with her family. She is a big fan of Winder chocolate milk.
