Dave Alvord represents Salt Lake County's west side in the great District 2, which covers sections of Herriman, Riverton, South Jordan, West Jordan, Copperton, Kearns and Magna. As he promised to "Fight for the West Side", Dave has a longstanding tradition of doing exactly that. In 2014, Dave was elected Mayor of South Jordan City. During that time, he and the council were able to lower taxes, reform zoning, pay off debt and break ground on many new recreational amenities. Recognizing that the West Side is entitled to its fair share, Dave championed equal representation for transportation dollars.
In 2004, Dave graduated from the prestigious Case School of Dental medicine after which he practiced dentistry for sixteen years. Recently, Alvord accepted the role as CEO of Professional Insurance Exchange, Utah's premier dental malpractice insurance company. Dave has been active on dental boards associated with the Utah Dental Association and its Salt Lake Chapter.
Dave currently serves as a member on the Clark Planetarium Board and the Criminal Justice Advisory Council.
Dave loves the outdoors, and one of his favorite hobbies is mountain biking. Dave is excited to help bring an expansion of hiking, equestrian, and mountain biking trails to the Oquirrh Mountains at Butterfield Canyon and beyond.
Dave Alvord is married to Laura and has four children who attend school in the Jordan School District. Dave is excited to serve on the Salt Lake County Council and would love to hear from the residents anytime!
