Hi Salt Lake County Residents,
I’m Shireen Ghorbani, and I’m honored to represent the entire county as an at-large member of the Salt Lake County Council.
Our county is growing, and we have a lot of important decisions to make about how we want to grow as a community. Growth impacts every aspect of our lives. Adding more residents to our region will affect our air quality, transportation, housing availability, healthcare and much more.
We are all in this together; we all share in the same collective future. I’ll work for a future where working families are put ahead of corporate interest, where mental healthcare and addiction treatment services are put ahead of incarceration, and where we work together – across party lines – to find solutions that will improve our air quality and protect our environment.
We all bring different skills and talents to our communities that strengthen our region. I’m excited to share my experience with you.
I am a communications professional with two master’s degrees one in Organizational Communications from the University of Utah and the other in Organizational Theory from the University of Nebraska. I currently work in facilities management where I focus on process improvement and large-scale organizational communications. I am the board chair of the Rape Recovery Center where we work to empower individuals victimized by sexual violence and educate the community about the cause, impact, and prevention of sexual violence.
I’ve been a teacher, a nonprofit executive director of an art center, a policy researcher, a tour guide at a state park, and served our country as a Peace Corps volunteer in Moldova.
My husband is a high school English teacher; we live in Salt Lake City with our son Desmond, our dog Sarge and a new cat named Fred.
I want to hear from you. I’d like to know what you want to see our county do and what you think it can do better. You can find me on social media, or you can contact me at the office; firstname.lastname@example.org or 385-468-7451.
