News Release: June 15, 2016 | Salt Lake County Selected to Develop Regional Plan to Attract Foreign Direct Investment as part of Global Cities Initiative
Companies that export and Foreign-Owned Entities (FOEs) bring outside capital into a local system. Data suggests that when outside capital is brought into a region, more and better-paying jobs are created for local residents of all skill levels and this makes for a more robust and resilient local economy.
The goal of phase 2 of the Global Cities Initiative is to understand the current state of Salt Lake County's market more fully and discover ways regional government can help create an environment where businesses can readily attract foreign capital -- whether through increasing export activity or attracting foreign investment.
