On behalf of the youth we serve, we thank you for your interest in volunteering. Your individual, personalized attention for the children and youth in our programs is vital in providing a place of safety, shelter and support.
Because we know your time is valuable, we will work with you to create an individualized volunteer schedule that will meet program and service needs.
Whether you are coming just for the day or want to create a new program or class, the time you give makes a difference in the life of children and youth.
We look forward to time and talents that support Youth Services and provide a safe haven for our youth!

Ongoing volunteers come into our programs on a consistent basis based on volunteer’s availability and program schedule. Ongoing volunteers must attend an orientation and complete our Ongoing Volunteer Packet that includes a background screening, volunteer agreement, pledge of confidentiality, and provider code of conduct. Once the packet is completed and returned to us, we will submit the background screening for approval which can take up to six weeks. To begin the process, please complete this packet and BCI form and return them with the required documentation to our offices at 177 W Price Ave, Attn: Volunteer Coordinator.
Upon completion of the above steps and background screening approval, we will work together to find the best volunteer position and program based on the volunteer’s availability and program need. Ongoing volunteers can shadow another volunteer prior to beginning if interested.

One-time volunteers are anyone who volunteers at Youth Services one time (for 8 hours or less) in a 365-day period. Typically, one-time volunteers provide either a direct-service activity or project to do with the youth; or an indirect project. Direct-service activities involve direct interaction with our clients and vary greatly. Past activities have included celebrations for our youth; ice cream sundae-making parties; or holiday related activities. These activities must be approved by our staff prior to volunteering.
Indirect projects may include helping organize donations/craft areas; cleaning out the garden for the fall; fixing bikes. We can provide you with a list of our current needs if you are interested in an indirect one-time volunteer project.
One-time volunteers must sign our two-page One-time Volunteer Form and provide a copy of their driver’s license.
