The Facilities Management Electrical crew works on a wide variety of electrical and electronic equipment and systems to include building electrical distribution equipment such as panels, switch gear, transformers and motor control centers, Emergency back-up Generators, Uninterruptible Power Systems, Lighting Control, Parking lot lighting, Automatic ADA compliant doors and maintenance of solar power systems.

The section has created County Electrical Standards for all new construction and reviews all specifications and drawings for contracted construction and renovation projects. Additionally, the section oversees county-wide contracts for elevator maintenance, generator maintenance, overhead doors and Uninterruptible Power systems.

The Electrical team has worked with Facilities Project Management to complete 55 Energy Efficient Lighting Retrofit projects in the past 3.5 years. These projects were completed at a cost of approximately $1 million and have all had a project cost payback in energy savings in less than 4 years. Rocky Mountain Power has paid nearly $105k in incentive rebates to Salt Lake County for completing this work.


 The Electrical Services team operates with nine team members with over 200 years of combined service. Two members served in the US Military with a combined 25 years of service. There are two State of Utah Master Electricians, seven licensed Journeyman and one with an Electrical Contractors License. Team members have received factory training for Siemens Electrical Equipment, Flir Infrared Technologies, Uninterruptable Power Systems and Hobart Kitchen Equipment.
