Salt Lake County Health Department (SLCoHD) recognizes that the State of Utah’s transition to “transmission index” guidelines presents a concern to entities that have long-planned gatherings and events scheduled in coming days.
To minimize disruptions to those entities’ immediate operations, while still addressing the urgent need to confront the increased spread of COVID-19, events and gatherings scheduled in Salt Lake County through Wednesday, October 28, may proceed as planned as long as organizers and venues ensure strict adherence to the components of the state’s former “yellow” guidelines, including the requirement to:
- enforce face coverings at all times
- ensure social distancing as much as possible
- exclude symptomatic staff and patrons
- employ other risk reduction measures as appropriate, such as staggered entry times, prepackaged concessions rather than queues for food, etc.
For events and gatherings on or after Thursday, October 29, venues and event or gathering organizers must adhere to the state’s “high” transmission index requirement that all attending or participating household groups maintain 6 feet of distance from one other. Exceptions to this requirement will be extremely rare, if granted at all.
SLCoHD will provide further information next week.
