Policies

General Rules

  • In compliance with the Utah Clean Air Act smoking, smokeless tobacco, and vaping (e-cigarettes) are all prohibited in or around our buildings and park spaces.
  • All patrons and visitors must check in/slide membership card at the front desk.
  • Food and beverages are not allowed in the Fitness Area or Gym with the exception of capped, spill-proof, non-glass water bottles.
  • Possession of illegal drugs, beer, and alcoholic beverages is prohibited on the premises.
  • Foul and abusive language is unacceptable.
  • Abuse and/or misuse of County property and equipment is unacceptable. Violators will be held financially responsible for damages and losses. Any area in which the above rules are violated will be subject to closure. Violators will be asked to leave the premises and action may result in entry privileges being suspended or revoked.
  • LOCKER ROOM AGE POLICY:  Children 4 and under may enter the locker room with a parent, regardless of their gender. Children 5 and over may only use the locker room of their gender. Anyone may use the family change rooms at any time.
  • No bare feet allowed outside of locker rooms with the exception of organized classes such as karate and gymnastics.
  • Lockers are for day use only. Lockers which are not cleared at the end of the day will have the lock cut off and all items will be removed and bagged for pick-up. There will be a two (2) week holding period at which time all items found will be sent to an establishment which collects and resells used merchandise.
  • Patrons are fully responsible for personal items that are lost, stolen, or damaged at the Fitness Center. Books, bags, coats, and personal items should be kept in a locker and are not allowed in activity areas. Patrons are responsible for bringing their own lock when using the lockers.
  • Patrons may not display actions that the Center Staff deem unsportsmanlike or rude.
  • Misuse, moving, or altering any portion of the Center property is prohibited. Persons with infectious diseases are prohibited from using the facility. Open wounds must be covered.
  • All children under the age of ten (10) must be accompanied by an adult (age 18 or older) in all areas of the facility at all times.
  • Please use only the parking areas immediately adjacent to our building.
  • Patrons and visitors shall abide by the rules and regulations of the Center. People found in violation of these rules may have their Center privileges suspended or revoked.

Fitness Policies

  • Patrons must be 16 year or older to use the fitness areas. We offer a free weight room certification program for 14 and 15 year olds. The class for weight room certification is offered when the fitness attendant is in the weight room.
  • Work-out clothes including athletic shoes and a shirt must be worn at all times. No jeans, pants with rivets, belt loops, belts, or opened toed shoes or sandals are allowed. It is recommended that backpacks, coats, and personal items be stored off the fitness floor in lockers.
  • Only capped, spill-proof water bottles are allowed. No gum, food, or other drinks are permitted.
  • All equipment is first come first served. During peak times there is a 30-minute time limit on cardio equipment. Please do not do multiple sets on weight machines during busy times.
  • Use spotters and spring clamps when using free weights.
  • Please wipe down equipment after use.
  • Please rack free weights when you are finished.
  • Slamming or dropping of weights is not tolerated.
  • Lifting chalk and/or powder is not allowed in the Center.
  • Offensive or hostile language and/or swearing is not allowed anywhere in the Center.
  • Please do not spit on any equipment in the facility.
  • Personal Trainers must be on contract with Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation.

Gym Policies

  • All persons must register at the front desk before using any portion of the facility including the gym.
  • Hanging on basketball rims is prohibited.
  • Wear only shoes that do not mark the gym floor.
  • Only capped, spill-proof water bottles are allowed. No gum, food or other drinks.
  • Offensive language or behavior, roughhousing, and fighting will not be tolerated.
  • Basketballs and other equipment may be checked out at the front desk. Picture ID is required for checkout / rentals.
  • Facility use may be suspended or revoked at any time.

Pool Rules

Health and Safety Rules

  • A cleansing shower must be taken before entering the pool and after each use of the restroom.
  • DIAPER POLICY ENFORCED: Children 2 and under or wearing diapers must wear a commercial swim diaper and tight fitting rubber pants regardless.  All other diapers are prohibited in the pool.  Swim diapers are available for purchase at the customer service desk.
  • LOCKER ROOM AGE POLICY:  Children 4 and under may enter the locker room with a parent, regardless of their gender. Children 5 and over may only use the locker room of their gender. Anyone may use the family change rooms at any time. 
  • A person with bandages, blisters, cuts, rashes, stitches, and/or communicable diseases is prohibited from using the pool.
  • All accidents, however minor, must be report to a lifeguard on duty.
  • Outside food or drink is prohibited. Food or drink sold in the pool area is allowed in designated area areas only and is prohibited within 10 feet of the pool. Glass containers are prohibited.
  • Smoking and Vaping are prohibited.
  • The use of the pool while under the influence of alcohol or impairing drugs is prohibited.

Behavior Rules

  • Diving into the pool from the deck is allowed in designated deep water areas only.
  • Jumping or diving backwards, spinning, and flipping off the edge of the pool are not allowed.
  • Children 6 and under must be accompanied in the water at all times and within arm’s reach of a parent, guardian, or chaperon 14 years of age or older. Chaperon must be in a swim suit. This rule applies even if the child is wearing a life jacket. 
  • Children 6-9 years of age must be supervised in the pool area by a parent, guardian, or chaperon at least 14 years of age or older.
  • Swimsuits or appropriate swimwear must be worn. Swimming in street clothing such as cut-off sweat pants, jeans, t- shirts or any clothing made of cotton fabric etc. is prohibited.
  • There may be safety breaks when the entire pool will be cleared.
  • Sitting, hanging, or playing on safety ropes, ramps or ladders is prohibited.
  • Running on the deck, shoulder riding, and rough play are prohibited.
  • Offensive, disrespectful or unruly behavior, profanity, and abusive language are prohibited.
  • No Cameras or Cell phones allowed in the water.

Equipment Rules

  • Properly-fitted Coast Guard-approved life jackets are only allowed in water 5 feet deep or less. Life jackets are not allowed in water deeper than 5 feet or on slides.
  • Only Coast guard approved floatation devices are allowed.
  • Lifeguard staff must approve all play toys and flotation devices brought into the pool area.
  • Kick boards and pull buoys are for lap swimmers only.
  • Must be 18 or older and be able to swim to use a noodle for exercise only.
  • No Mermaid Tails or Mono Finns.

Hot Tub Rules

  • Water temperature is kept around 102 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Must be 18 years or older to use the Hot Tub. No exceptions.
  • Elderly persons and those suffering from heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, or those who are pregnant should consult a physician before entering the spa.
  • Persons suffering from a communicable disease transmissible via water may not use the spa.
  • Individuals under the influence of alcohol or other impairing chemical substances should not use the spa.
  • Patrons who fatigue easy should not use the hot tub.
  • Persons should not spend more than 15 minutes in the spa at any one session.
  • Maximum capacity is 10 people.
  • Lifeguards cannot press the button for the jets, patrons must do this themselves.
  • Running or engaging in unsafe activities or horseplay in or around the spa is prohibited.
  • Children are not allowed to sit on the edge of the hot tub

Lap Swim Rules

  • Swimmers must be 15 years or older and must be able to swim consecutive laps.  Swimmers under 18 may only use lap lanes during open plunge.  Approval by the Aquatics Facility Coordinator is required if swimmer is under the age of 15. Certain restrictions apply.
  • When there are 2 people to a lane, please split the lane and swim side by side.
  • If more than 2 people are in a lap lane, swimmers are required to “Circle Swim” by staying on the right hand side of the lane and swimming in a counter clock wise direction. NO ONE MAY REFUSE TO CIRCLE SWIM. Please stay close to lane line to avoid hitting others and continue swimming in a circular fashion.
  • Any swimmer planning on joining a lane will inform the swimmer currently occupying the space before joining the lane. Lap swimmers entering an occupied lane should be certain the swimmers already in the lane know that they are entering the lane and whether they should Circle Swim or split the lane.
  • In shared lanes no butterfly stroke or adapted stroke that may affect the safety of other swimmers is permitted.
  • When a faster swimmer needs to pass please stop at the wall and allow the patron to pass you.
  • Equipment such as kickboards, pull buoys, fins, etc. may be used ONLY when not interfering with someone else’s swim space.
  • Whenever possible choose a lane with swimmers who hold a pace similar to your own. Take a few minutes to observe the swimmers to gauge which lane is best for you.
  • Lanes may be designated Fast, Medium, and Slow by the lifeguard. Swimmers must choose the appropriate lane for their speed compared to the other swimmers using lanes.
  • The on-duty lifeguard reserves the right to rearrange swimmers based on ability and pace to make best use of the available lanes.
  • No use of starting blocks.
  • Water walkers and joggers will yield the right of way to lap swimmers and may be required to leave the lap lanes in favor of lap swimmers when the lanes are crowded.
  • Lap lanes are designated for swimming and should not be used for lounging or playing.

ALL LIFEGUARDS HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO SUSPEND POOL PRIVILEGES IF RULES ARE VIOLATED.
