Kerri Nakamura




Kerri Nakamura is a 30+ year professional working in local government. Kerri joined Mayor Wilson’s team in February, 2020. Prior to joining the team, Kerri served as the Deputy Director of the Utah Department of Heritage & Arts and as the Government Program Director in the Sorenson Impact Center, located at the University of Utah’s David Eccles School of Business. The Center works across government, social service, commercial lender and philanthropic funding sectors to develop innovative and data-driven approaches to difficult social challenges in communities across the United States.
Previously, Kerri served as the legislative fiscal and policy director for the Salt Lake City Council, Chief Financial Officer and the head of fiscal policy development for the Utah League of Cities and Towns, and as a Senior Policy Advisor to a long-term Salt Lake County Council Member. Kerri owns a consultancy that focuses on outcomes based budgeting and performance measurement. Through contracts, she has served communities throughout Utah, the US Virgin Islands, Guam, and the Republic of Palau.
She has authored numerous papers on policy issues that were considered, and often adopted, by elective officials. Kerri earned her bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Utah.
