The Utah Legislature approved HB356 during the 2014 Legislative session which provides an incentive for a public/private partnership to build convention meeting space and public infrastructure related to a new convention center hotel development. The private sector will build, own and manage the hotel and will receive performance-based tax incentives to include construction of convention meeting space that will help attract large, outside conventions to schedule their events at the Salt Palace Convention Center.
