Get to The River with Mayor Wilson

Salt Lake City, UT - Go for a run, a walk, rollerblade or ride a bike with Mayor Jenny Wilson along the Jordan River on Tuesday, September 24th. Inspired by Mayor Wilson’s focus on promoting a healthy lifestyle, and as part of Jordan River Commission’s Get to the River Festival, Mayor Wilson is encouraging the public, along with Salt Lake County employees to join her and enjoy fitness, beautiful scenery and healthy refreshments.

Salt Lake County receives federal grant to continue fighting the opioid epidemic

Salt Lake City, UT - Salt Lake County is one of six communities across the nation that has been awarded a two-year, $600,000 grant from the U.S. Bureau of Justice Assistance. The money will support coordinated, cross-sector responses to prevent and reduce overdose deaths associated with opioids, including illicit fentanyl.

Mayor Jenny Wilson announces hire of Environmental Program Manager

Salt Lake City, UT- At the beginning of her term, Mayor Jenny Wilson announced she intended to make the environment (and particularly air quality) a priority in her administration - which is why she created the county’s first-ever Office of Environmental Services. After an extensive search, the Environmental Program Manager has been selected to head the new office. Under the direction of Michael Shea, the Office of Environmental Services will expand Salt Lake County’s presence in this important space to benefit the communities we serve.

Salt Lake County earns national recognition for two outstanding programs

Salt Lake County’s Refugee Assistance Program for Older Adults and County-Wide Microchipping Program are being recognized with Achievement Awards from The National Association of Counties (NACo). The awards honor innovative, effective county government programs that strengthen services for residents. The awards will be presented at NACo’s 83rd Annual Conference & Exposition on Sunday, July 14th in Las Vegas.

Salt Lake County Mayor Jenny Wilson to Announce Winners of Ideas Competition for Jordan River Parkway

Salt Lake City - Salt Lake County Mayor Jenny Wilson will announce the winners of the On the River’s Edge ideas competition at General Holm Park (1050 West Carlisle Park Lane, South Salt Lake) on Thursday, June 27 at 10 a.m. Launched in March, the competition invited architects, planners and artists from across the nation to submit ideas that would reimage a 3.5-mile stretch of the Jordan River Parkway in central Salt Lake County.

County Offers Another Expungement Day, Following Success of Last Year

Salt Lake County, UT— In response to numerous requests from Salt Lake County residents, the Salt Lake County Mayor’s Office is partnering with the Department of Public Safety and 40 volunteer attorneys from the Utah State Bar, to host a second Expungement Day event. This event is the first in a two-step process to help qualifying individuals legally clear their criminal records.

Flood Monitoring for Salt Lake County

Salt Lake County, UT – Several agencies are watching and monitoring the snow melt and potential flooding areas in Salt Lake County. Salt Lake County Engineering and Flood Control continues to remove debris from canals and grates and monitor water flows and levels. They have also “staged” thousands of sand bags in areas throughout the valley in case they are needed in the event of a flood.
