Mayor McAdams announces selection of new Associate Deputy Mayor
Alyson Heyrend -
Salt Lake County, UT— Mayor Ben McAdams says Kimberly Barnett, current Senior Advisor in his office, has been selected as the new Associate Deputy Mayor. Barnett was selected subject to the advice and consent of the County Council.
“From overseeing the county’s sustainability initiatives, to managing big collaborative partnerships involving the future of the Central Wasatch Mountains and Canyons, Kimberly is an experienced professional who will continue to help guide projects and policies that deliver results for county residents,” said McAdams
McAdams said Barnett joined his administration as a Senior Advisor, after handling local government relations and environmental policy for former Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon. During that time, she oversaw the installation of various major solar photovoltaic projects and partnered with other organizations on an initiative to help improve air quality in Salt Lake County. She has also represented the Mayor’s Office on a number of task forces, boards, and committees. Before coming to work in the public sector, Barnett worked as a Development Officer for the University of Utah and for the YWCA of Salt Lake City. She is a graduate of the University of Utah, with a B.S. in Sociology and Masters in Public Administration. She is the mother of three-year-old daughter.
If her selection receives the approval of the Salt Lake County Council, she will begin her new position immediately.
