Salt Lake County, UT—Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams said that Beth Overhuls has accepted the job as the county’s first-ever Chief Information Officer (CIO). She will oversee the county’s Information Services (IS) division and will serve as a member of the mayor’s cabinet.
“Salt Lake County is a major organization that serves one million customers with a variety of needs. We want our technology to align with the expectations of those customers in a way that is accessible, modern, reliable and secure. Beth is just the type of innovative and operational CIO that can make that happen,” said McAdams.
McAdams said Overhuls comes to Salt Lake County from CBS Corporation, where she built and implemented processes for IT transparency to the business and IT operational efficiency. Prior to CBS, Overhuls was the Vice President of Business Systems Engineering for Walt Disney Studios, where she served as the CIO. She developed and communicated the IT roadmap that was aligned to the strategy of the business. Overhuls has also worked in the music publishing business and at News Corporation. She holds a B.S. in Computer Information Systems from California State Polytechnic University. She is moving here from the Los Angeles area and her start date is January 5, 2015.
