Grant and Training Designed to Help Implement Community Outreach Program in Glendale

(November 2, 2015)—Salt Lake County Animal Services is proud to announce that it was awarded the Pets for Life Mentorship and Training program grant to provide direct, hands on community outreach in Glendale. The program is sponsored by The Humane Society of the United States and PetSmart Charities®.

“We’re excited to build this partnership with The Humane Society of the United States and PetSmart Charities,” said Mike Reberg, Director of Salt Lake County Animal Services. “With the help of this grant and training, we hope to make a real and lasting difference for people and pets in underserved areas.”

“Salt Lake County Animal Services has demonstrated an impressive initiative to bring life saving pet care resources and services that are often out of reach to people and pets in Salt Lake County,” said Amanda Arrington, director for The HSUS’ Pets for Life program. “The Humane Society of the United States is delighted to help Salt Lake County Animal Services accomplish its mission with this well-deserved grant and training.”

With an estimated 23 million pets living in poverty with their people in the United States, Pets for Life addresses the critical lack of accessible and affordable animal welfare services, resources, and information for people and pets in underserved communities.
