Salt Lake City, UT – Utah Friends for Animal Care and Effective Solutions (FACES) is proud to accept a donation of $3500 from the Salt Lake County Health Department’s employees Blue Jeans for Charity Program. Utah FACES will use this donation to pay for low cost spay/neuters, microchips, and vaccinations at Salt Lake County Animal Services.

More about Blue Jeans for Charity:

While many companies and government offices allow for “dress down day” on Fridays, the SLCoHD has always had a dress code policy which does not allow for blue jeans in the workplace. Needless to say, it has also always been something employees have longed for.

In 2014, SLCoHD executive director Gary Edwards decided to take an old blue jean idea and give it a six-month twist. Through the Blue Jeans For Charity program, health department employees are allowed to wear “blue jeans” each Friday for 6 months if they donate $25 to a predetermined charity.

The ability to wear blue jeans at work is a great way to increase morale and productivity, and at the same time, provide employees with the opportunity to "give back" to their communities by donating to local charities.

Charities that have received donations raised by health department employees include the Utah Food Bank, Christmas Box House, South Valley Sanctuary, The Road Home, Maliheh Free Clinic and KidsEat!Utah.
