SALT LAKE COUNTY, UT — The County Library is partnering with KUED Channel 7 to present a special preview of the Ken Burns and Lynn Novick ten-part documentary, The Vietnam War, on August 10 at the Library's Viridian Event Center.

Ten years in the making, the film includes rarely seen and digitally re-mastered archival footage from sources around the globe, photographs taken by some of the most celebrated photojournalists of the 20th Century, historic television broadcasts, evocative home movies and secret audio recordings from inside the Kennedy, Johnson and Nixon administrations.

Following the film, University of Utah professor Dr. David Derezotes will moderate a panel discussion with Vietnam veterans Terry Schow, Frank Maughan, Clark Clements and Lynn Higgins. Refreshments and prizes will be provided by KUED.

The screening is the first part of “Remembering Vietnam,” a three-event series featuring local author Paisley Rekdal with the Utah Humanities Book Festival on October 10 and a veteran art exhibit on March 29 in partnership with the Utah Division of Arts & Museums.

  • What: Free screening of The Vietnam War
  • When: Thursday, August 10 at 7 pm
  • Where: Library's Viridian Event Center (8030 S 1825 W)
