Petco Foundation Invests in Lifesaving Work of Salt Lake County Animal Services

Grant of $10,000 will extend efforts for the Free Feline Fix in Salt Lake County

Salt Lake City, UT –  Salt Lake County Animal Services is ecstatic to announce it has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Petco Foundation to support the Free Feline Fix, a program that provides free spays and neuters to owned cats in their service area.

Salt Lake County Animal Services is the largest no kill municipal shelter in Utah. Animal Services serves over half a million citizens and pets in Salt Lake County.

The Petco Foundation investment will help prevent hundreds of litters of kittens from entering the shelter. The Free Feline Fix program provides owned cats with free spay/neuter, core vaccinations, and a microchip. This program has already served over 400 cats in Salt Lake County.

“The Petco Foundation’s Lifesaving Investment will help us provide hundreds of free spays and neuters to the cats in our community. Salt Lake County Animal Services is always looking for innovative ways to prevent more cats from entering shelters,” said Talia Butler, Director of Salt Lake County Animal Services.

About the Petco Foundation

At the Petco Foundation, we believe that every animal deserves to live its best life.  Since 1999, we’ve invested more than $185 million into lifesaving animal welfare work to make that happen. With our more than 4,000 animal welfare partners, we inspire and empower communities to make a difference by investing in adoption and medical care programs, spay and neuter services, pet cancer research, service and therapy animals, and numerous other lifesaving initiatives. Through our Think Adoption First program, we partner with Petco stores and animal welfare organizations across the country to increase pet adoptions. So far, we’ve helped more than 5.3 million pets find their new loving families, and we’re just getting started. Visit www.petcofoundation.org to learn more about how you can get involved.
