Experience Chinese Culture at the County Library’s Chinese New Year Celebration
Tavin Stucki -
SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah—Celebrate the Year of the Pig and several Asian countries, cultures and customs at the County Library’s second-annual Chinese New Year event.
“Last year we had hundreds of children come and practice Chinese with me, and the parents were very excited,” County Librarian Karen Liu said. “It’s so much fun for the whole family. We encourage everyone to stop by out and learn about Chinese culture. It’s a wonderful opportunity for our community to gather together to experience and celebrate diversity.”
Liu also said it will be an especially great opportunity for children enrolled in local dual-immersion classes.
The Year of the Pig celebrates prosperity, wealth, hard work and good fortune. Attendees will have an opportunity to learn about Chinese New Year in a fun environment with authentic performances, decorations, crafts and treats from China. There will also be storytimes presented in Chinese.
This event is free and open to the public. For information on this and other library programs and events, visit thecountylibrary.org/specialevents.
