Get Involved

There are a variety of ways to get involved with Salt Lake County Parks & Recreation.  Advisory board members, volunteer coaches, and those eager to preserve our open space lands are always needed to help make our shared spaces and programs great!

Parks & Recreation Advisory Board

Parks & Recreation Advisory Board members serve as a volunteer citizen board to review, deliberate, and make recommendations regarding issues related to parks and recreation facilities and programs countywide.

Interested in serving with us? View current openings and apply through the Mayor's Office.

Environmental Stewardship

From March through October, there are an array of volunteer opportunities with Salt Lake County Open Space for individuals and groups of all ages interested in environmental stewardship.  Ongoing and one-day projects are available with no experience necessary.

Contact James Young at JTYoung@slco.org to get involved.

Current Opportunities

Volunteer Coaching

Volunteer Coaches are vital to our recreation programs. We encourage parents to get involved and assist their child and others in having a positive and fun experience in the sport of their choice.

Parents interested in coaching youth sports programs must submit the Coaches Volunteer Packet once a year, which includes the permission to run a background check.
