County Active Transportation Fund (formerly CATNIP grants)
2018 Letters of Intent (LOI) are now PAST DUE.
Amount of Funding Available: $1,000,000
The County Active Transportation Fund (formerly CATNIP grants) assist communities with implementing bikeway improvements and wayfinding within street rights-of-way. Preference for funding will be given to projects identified on the County's Active Transportation Implementation Plan (ATIP). See Salt Lake County Bicycle Best Practices and Wayfinding protocol.
Trails or pathways within their own rights-of-way are not eligible for funding. Intersection improvements, however, where trails cross street rights-of-way ARE eligible. Funds may be used for construction or for design activities that are expected to result in eventual construction. Grants cannot be used for solely planning purposes such as city bicycle master plans.
Project sponsors must be municipal entities with jurisdictional authority over the proposed project location. The County will evaluate submitted LOIs and give recommendations to each community about whether to submit a full application. Instructions for submitting full applications will be communicated by January 11, 2019.
