2023 Calendar Year Budget
The Salt Lake Valley Law Enforcement Service Area (SLVLESA) funds law enforcement services for its members. SLVLESA contracts with the Unified Police Department (UPD) to provide law enforcement services to its members. Presently, SLVLESA derives its revenue solely from property taxes assessed within its jurisdiction.
UPD is a June 30 to July 1 fiscal year entity. SLVLESA is on a calendar fiscal year. Essentially, the costs for law enforcement services to SLVLESA has been determined until June 30, 2023.
On December 15, 2022, the SLVLESA Board of Trustees adopted the 2023 SLVLESA Final Budget. The 2023 budget does not increase budgeted revenues from the prior year. Since there is no increase in budgeted revenues, the SLVLESA Board of Trustees adopted, as a tax levy for 2023, the certified tax rate as determined by the Salt Lake County Auditor’s Office.
