The Boy's Group Home is an emergency residential shelter for teenage boys ages 12 to 17 who are in the care and custody of the state of Utah because of alleged abuse or neglect or considered ungovernable. Youth stay here until a more permanent placement is found, either in foster care or with family members. The average amount of time for a youth to stay is one month.
The Boy's Group Home has capacity for 16 and is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. During their stay the boys receive health, medical and dental screening, transportation and participate in a number of recreational activities.
Youth also participate in group activities such as life skills, drug and alcohol prevention classes, arts and crafts, community service and off-site activities such as visiting area theaters, museums and sporting activities. Many of these are funded by community donations and are scheduled either by the Volunteer Coordinator or the Recreational Therapist.
