The Zoo, Arts and Parks Program provides funding for up to three zoological organizations. Zoological funding should be used to build organizational capacity, fund zoological facilities, to create stability and to provide adequate predictable support. Organizations that qualify for zoological funding have headquarters and a significant presence in Salt Lake County and serves and audience of 75,000 or more persons annually.
The 2019 Tier I & Zoological grant application opens February 12, 2018.
They are then carefully reviewed by the Tier I Advisory Board. The board makes funding recommendations to the County Council. Once the County Council approves the funding recommendations, ZAP staff will invite the recommended organizations to sign contracts. This process takes almost a full year.
