All Salt Lake County children are ready for school, succeed in school, and graduate high school college-and-career ready. Salt Lake County residents of all ages have access to non-formal learning opportunities. See our
Education Plan for more information.
Research has shown that by age four, children in low-income families hear up to 30 million fewer words than children in high-income families, which translates directly into a disparity in words learned. The good news is that parents and caregivers can help close the word gap simply by talking, reading, playing, and singing to children every day from birth.

Salt Lake County is the second site in the country to go forward with a community based initiative –
Evidence2Success. The framework was developed by the Annie E. Casey Foundation – a national nonprofit organization dedicated to serving children – to help community residents, schools and local government work together to gather data on the needs and the strengths of local youth. Evidence2Success Kearns is part of Salt Lake County's The Future We Choose in Kearns initiative.
Thank you to all the partners who have joined our Evidence2Success Kearns Community Board!

The Evidence2Success Kearns Community Coalition's effort to reduce substance
abuse among teens got an extra boost from a $625,000 Drug-Free
Communities grant awarded by the Office of National Drug Control Policy. The
funds, which will be used to curb teen alcohol and e-cigarette abuse, will be
dispersed at $125,000 a year, over the next five years.
