Employee Appreciation Day 2024

It’s time to celebrate you and all your accomplishments with a field day you won’t forget! Tomorrow’s Employee Appreciation Day event is at the Salt Lake County Library’s Viridian Event Center (8030 S 1825 W West Jordan, Utah 84088) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. We recommend you read this whole message—and check out the maps page— so you know what to bring and what to expect. We hope to knock this event out of the park for you!

What to Bring:

Your Badge: Employee identification badges will be required to check-in at one of the two check-in booths. Check-in booths are located in the Library’s Viridian Event Center lobby and on the back west side of the building.
Water Bottle: All employees can pick up one disposable, filled water bottle near the check-in booths. The current weather forecast is warm, so we recommend staying hydrated by refilling the disposable water bottle or bringing your own to fill up at one of the drinking fountains found in the Viridian Event Center or at the EPIC Pavilion in the park.
Comfortable Clothes: Since some of the event is outside, be sure to dress for the occasion!
Sunscreen: With many of the activities outside and the current weather forecast to be sunny, we recommend bringing your own broad-spectrum sunscreen to keep you safe from the harmful effects of the sun. And don’t forget your hat!

What to Expect:

Hours and attendance: This year’s event begins at 11 a.m. and will run until 3 p.m. We have had a record-breaking number of employees RSVP this year which means lines and parking are something to consider when planning what time to attend. We highly encourage you to either come as the event opens or wait until after the traditional lunch time to avoid long lines. (Food trucks will serve food for the duration of the event.)
Getting to the event: We recommend carpooling or using public transit as parking spaces are limited. This will allow you to spend more time enjoying the event and less time searching for parking. There are three main parking lots: outside the West Jordan Library/Viridian Event Center, west of the library at the Gene Fullmer Rec Center, and east of the library in the West Jordan public parking. There are some spaces available around the park, but please note part of the road will be closed to ensure employees can cross safely between the Viridian Event Center and park. Additionally, the Viridian Event Center is a short walk from the West Jordan City Center Trax Station via the Red Line.
Meal Tickets: One meal ticket per employee will be provided at one of the check-in booths. Employees must show their badges in order to receive their meal ticket and stamp, in addition to their Bingo card and map.
Food trucks: All six food trucks will be at Employee Appreciation Day throughout the event, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you are worried about a line, consider coming after the lunch rush or being flexible in your food truck of choice.
Activities: Many of our activities will be led by the agencies who are hosting booths this year, both inside the Viridian Event Center and outside in the park. Just a few things to look forward to include: the library mega booth, planting seeds at the EPIC Pavilion, the Clark Planetarium’s stellar exhibit, giant checkers, photo cutouts, an alpine boulder toss, the parachute game, ring toss, and more.
Prizes: We’ll randomly select five grand prize winners from those who participate in this year’s Bingo.
Employees Only: This event is for Salt Lake County employees. We are unable to accommodate family members or attendees who are not employed by Salt Lake County.
Drone Footage: The Surveyor’s Office will be flying a drone to get awesome video footage of our event. Attending the outdoor portion of this event might mean you end up on camera.
