Get Financial Assistance

The application fee to apply for U.S. citizenship is $725.  If you qualify as low-income and have extreme financial hardships, you may be eligible for a filing fee waiver. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) uses multiple criteria in determining your eligibility for a waiver, including determining if:

  • You or a qualified member of your household is currently receiving a means-tested benefit (SNAP or Medicaid).  You must get a copy of your benefits letter and submit it with your citizenship application.
  • Your household income is at or below 150% poverty level at the time you file the Request for Fee Waiver.
  • You are experiencing a financial hardship that prevents you from paying the filing fee, including unexpected medical bills or emergencies.
