Salt Lake County School Children Get Free Access to Recreation Centers

Salt Lake City, UT – This is no April Fool’s joke, starting today, April 1, Salt Lake County (SLC0) children can pre-register for the much-anticipated pilot program, MY County Rec Pass, at Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation Centers.

Thanks to the overwhelming support from Salt Lake County Mayor Jenny Wilson, the Salt Lake County Council, and the Tourism, Recreation, Culture, and Convention Program (TRCC), Parks and Recreation is gearing up for the MY County Rec Pass, to activate on June 1. That day the doors of recreation centers will swing open, welcoming all Salt Lake County youth to partake in the array of activities the various locations have to offer.

"We are thrilled to share this opportunity with the youth of Salt Lake County," says Mayor Jenny Wilson, Salt Lake County. "By offering this program to youth, we are expanding access and fostering a sense of belonging and connection within our community. Together, we can empower our youth to lead healthy, active lives and cultivate lifelong passions."

Parks and Recreation departments play a vital role in fostering community engagement and providing opportunities for youth to thrive. In alignment with the MY County Rec Pass, local school districts – Canyons, Granite, Jordan, and Murray – are sharing the information with their students.

“This program underscores our commitment to providing accessible, inclusive, and engaging recreational opportunities for youth across the county,” says Doranne Pittz, Parks and Recreation Associate Director. “We aim to extend our reach and impact, ensuring that every young person has the chance to experience the benefits of recreation and community involvement.”

As the doors prepare to open on June 1, families, educators, and community members are invited to help spread the word about this exciting initiative.
