Open seven days a week and located in downtown Salt Lake City, Clark Planetarium offers an out-of-this-world experience that is a blast for all ages.

The planetarium features over 10,000 square feet of free, hands-on exhibit space, as well as the breathtaking Hansen full-dome and Northrop Grumman IMAX theatres. Clark Planetarium boasts one of the best science gift shops in Utah. For many visitors, Clark Planetarium is their first trip to space, and we know it won't be their last.

Plan your visit to the Planetarium

Clark Planetarium strives to make our building accessible to all people. Our building accommodates wheelchairs and mobility devices throughout the museum. Staff cannot assist visitors into or out of a wheelchair or mobility aid.

Access into the planetarium is available from the main entry located on 400 W. 100 S., or through the Clark Planetarium parking garage entrance located on Level 0, Row C in the south parking garage. If utilizing the south parking garage, an access lift is located inside Clark Planetarium's double entrance door. The lift is visitor operable, and instructions are posted on the lift, but staff are available to assist with opening the doors and operating the lift, if needed. If assistance is needed, please call 385-468-7827 at the time of your visit or prior to arrival.

Sensory Friendly Saturday occurs on the first Saturday of every month between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. During these hours, the museum lights and sounds are adjusted throughout the free exhibit area as well as the Dome and IMAX theatres to facilitate a safe, welcoming, and fun environment for visitors with sensory needs. Noise-canceling headphones, sunglasses, weighted blankets, needs charts, magnifying glasses and sensory objects are available upon request, please inquire about these items at the ticketing counter.

Service animals are permitted; other animals are not permitted.

Admission to our exhibit space is always free. Shows in the Hansen Dome Theatre and Northrop Grumman IMAX Theatre play throughout the day. Check our schedule for the most up to date show times. Please be aware that late seating is not permitted to Cosmic Light Shows (laser shows) for safety reasons.

We encourage you to use public transportation whenever possible.

  • Utah Transit Authority (UTA) has a Planetarium Stop, directly east of our front door. In addition, UTA has several bus routes nearby.
  • You’ll also notice a number of easy, affordable and fun shared mobility options in Downtown Salt Lake City, including GREENbike (Salt Lake City’s non-profit bike share fleet), as well as rentable electric scooters.

Convenient underground parking, with two direct entrances to Clark Planetarium (on Levels 0 and -1), is available in the Gateway’s South Parking Garage. The most convenient parking entrance for Clark Planetarium is off of 100 South between 400 West and Rio Grande Street (450 W).

Discount validations are available for patrons at the ticketing desk and Planet Fun Gift Shop.

Association of Science - Technology Centers (ASTC) Passport Program

Clark Planetarium is a member of the Association of Science - Technology Centers (ASTC). Free admission is offered to anyone who has a current museum membership that participates in the ASTC passport program and meets the following criteria:

1. Science centers and museums must be located beyond 90 miles* of the science center/museum where the visitor is a member.
2. Science centers and museums must be located beyond 90 miles* of the visitor’s residence.
*This distance is measured “as the crow flies,” meaning that it is based on the linear radius, not driving distance. To help determine linear radius distance, use the “Measure Distance” feature on Google Maps.

KultureCity

Through partnership with KultureCity, Clark Planetarium offers sensory bags and items that are designed to help sensory needs in both adults and children.

Museums for All

Clark Planetarium is a participant in the Museums for All program. Upon proof of your EBT card, admission to the IMAX or Dome Theatre are available for $3 each.

PBS Adventure Pass

Children participating in the annual PBS Reading Marathon will receive free admission to the dome theatre with a paying adult. For more information follow this link.

Salt Lake Connect Pass

Connect Pass Attraction includes one Dome Theatre admission AND one IMAX Theatre documentary admission.

ZAP Summer Passport Program

On June 15, July 15, and August 15, Clark Planetarium will offer passport holders discounted $5 tickets to any IMAX or Dome movie. (Note: Discounted IMAX and Dome tickets are only available on the three specific days to those who participate in the Summer Passport Challenge).
