Voting In Person
JUNE 30, 2020 PRIMARY ELECTION INFORMATION
The 2020 Primary Election is being conducted by mail. Ballots will be mailed to active registered voters who are eligible to vote in partisan primary elections based on their party affiliation and applicable district, and to all active registered voters who reside in districts where non-partisan school board primaries are being held. (NOTE: Republican Party Primaries are countywide/statewide. Democratic Party Primaries pertain to two districts – Salt Lake County Council District #6 and Utah State House District #33. No other political parties have primary elections. Non-partisan local school board primary elections are in Granite School Board Districts #1 & #2 and Salt Lake School Board Districts #1 & #5.)
Because of COVID-19, the Legislature amended the election laws for this Primary Election to ensure safer voting. As a result, the following changes apply to this election:
- In-person voting at Early Voting and Election Day Vote Centers is eliminated for the June 30th Primary Election.
- However, voters who need the amenities of an audio ballot offered with the electronic voting machines can make an appointment at the Election Division by calling 385-468-7400 and an accommodation will be made.
- Same-day registration is eliminated so individuals may not register and vote provisionally on Election Day. The deadline to register to vote, update an address, or change party affiliation is June 19th at 5:00 p.m.
