Affordable Connectivity Program: Discounted Internet

All Salt Lake County residents should have the opportunity to access affordable, reliable high-speed internet. 

The Affordable Connectivity Program is a federal benefit that can save eligible residents $30 a month on their internet service. People can choose from various service plans available in their area, including options for home or mobile internet. Some plans will also include a device discount. The Affordable Connectivity Program is limited to one monthly discount per household.

What does the benefit provide?

  • Up to $30/month discount for internet service;

  • A one-time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet purchased through a participating provider

Eligibility

A person is eligible if anyone in their household:

  • Qualifies for the Lifeline program by receiving one of the following benefits:
    • Medicaid
    • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
    • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
    • Federal Public Housing Assistance (FPHA)
    • Veterans and Survivors Pension Benefit
    • Special Supplemental Nutritional Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC)
  • Has an income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines
  • Has children eligible for free and reduced school lunches
  • Received a Federal Pell Grant during the current award year
  • Meets the eligibility criteria for a participating provider's existing low-income program

Important Update:

Congress has yet to approve funding to continue the ACP and as a result, the program has entered a federal wind-down period. Funding is set to run out in April 2024. At this time the ACP benefit will no longer be available.

The last day to enroll in the Affordable Connectivity Program ( ACP) is February 7th 2024. Benefits are not guaranteed for the whole year. for more information, please reach out to our SAMi or ACP navigator teams.
