Protected Property

Sections 53-18-103 and 63G-2-303 of the Utah State Code provide that qualified current or former government employees or victims of crime may request that records containing specified personal information about themselves, or an eligible family member be protected from disclosure to the public.

If you wish to have your or an eligible family member’s records protected from public disclosure, you may submit an online application, along with an uploaded, notarized signature page and supporting documents to the Recorder's office. Court documents or proof of qualifying employment will be required to be uploaded as part of the application process.

As a courtesy, the Recorder’s office will forward information to the following Salt Lake county offices:

  • Auditor
  • Assessor
  • Clerk
  • Treasurer
  • Information Services
Each of these offices will take steps, as required or allowed by law, to protect the personal information you have identified.
