Birthday Parties

Whether you rent a space or find a picnic table, the farm is an ideal location for your child's birthday party. Party reservations are available March – October, additional dates are weather dependent.

  • $150 up to 10 kids
  • $8 for each additional kid
  • 2 hrs in farm-themed Party House (max 20 people)
  • T-shirt for the birthday child
  • Cow Train or Wagon Rides
  • Must be arranged 1 week prior to the big day
  • Party time slots are:
    • Monday-Saturday: 10 am-Noon, 1 pm-3 pm, and 4 pm-6 pm


Our Activity Barn and Outdoor Education Center are great venues for meetings and retreats. 

Set-up and clean-up are the responsibility of the renter and the time needed for both must be included in the rental hours.

If available, our adjacent pavilion provides a covered, outdoor option for enjoying a meal.

Our rustic atmosphere and charm make the Wheeler Historic Farm Activity Barn an ideal setting for your special event. The Barn has been host site for wedding receptions and ceremonies, luncheons, dinners, anniversary parties, birthdays, wakes, Christmas parties and business functions.

The Outdoor Education Center opened in 2021 and offers children and adults the opportunity to engage with others, reconnect with nature, learn about Salt Lake Valley's agriculture heritage and farming practices—current and historic, and have hands-on farm experiences, year-round.

The Outdoor Education Center is a partnership between Salt Lake County and Utah State University Extension. Funding for the building was made possible by Salt Lake County residents through the 2016 ZAP 3 Parks and Recreation Bond and through charitable donations from Wheeler Farm Friends and other organizations.

This reservation includes:

  • 150 white resin chairs
  • 64 rectangle tables (5-feet long) and 18 round tables (5’)
  • WiFi
  • Screen
  • Projectors
  • Bluetooth sound system
  • Microphones

Central Lawn

The Central Lawn is a 224’ x 209’ rentable outdoor space, available Monday-Saturday, 9 am-3pm or 4 pm-9 pm, and is located east of the Activity Barn.

Note: The location of the Central Lawn is accessible to public from several sides because of the proximity to the parking lot and the Activity Barn.

West Lawn & Pavilion

The large West Lawn and adjacent covered pavilion are a great space for your outdoor event, and are available Monday-Saturday, 9 am-3pm or 4 pm-9 pm. Pavilion amenities:

  • 14 picnic tables
  • Six (6) power outlets

The playground and restrooms located next to the pavilion are open to the public during your rental/use.

5K Course

The Farm provides a picturesque 5K course for up to 250 participants. User agreement/rental pricing includes use of the 5K track and West Lawn/pavilion area.

Start time must allow for 5K participants to be off the course by 10 am because that is when wagon rides begin. Start time for 5Ks held in October must end by 9 am.

Reservations FAQ

Activity Barn rentals require a completed Request Form, signed Facility User Agreement, and a non-refundable deposit that is applied to the rental fee. The remaining rental balance is due 30 days after your initial payment. Reservations made within 90 days of requested date must be paid in full at the time of reservation.

If you are planning a free-flowing, open house style of event, the Outdoor Education Center can accommodate up to 172 people at a time, or 86 people on each side of the collapsible wall.

If you are planning a free-flowing, open house style of event, the Barn can accommodate up to 300 people at a time. For a sit down dinner, 170-200 depending on your arrangement is our maximum.

The Outdoor Education Center does not have a food prep area.

The Outdoor Education Center does not have dressing rooms; however, there are restrooms available.

The security/cleaning deposit amount is based on the rental type and is fully refunded within seven (7) business days of your event if no damage occurs, and the building is clean.

You may choose any caterer for your event. Caterer information must be included in the Request Form and the caterer may not come in earlier than your scheduled time.

Alcohol and smoking are not allowed anywhere on the Wheeler Farm property. If alcohol is found at your event, the event will be terminated, and the security deposit will be forfeited.

You must be cleaned up and out by the end of your rental time.

Decorations are only allowed in the Activity Barn, not the lobby. The following items cannot be used because they damage property:

  • Tacks, nails, pins, staples, and/or removable hanging strips

Instead, we recommend zip ties, rope, fishing line or wire. If you are planning on using tape, it must be painter’s tape.

Open flames, sparklers, and other live-flame products, including fireworks, are not allowed. Alternatives include battery-operated candles or other battery-operated products.

Rice throwing is not allowed because it is unhealthy for our bird population. A good alternative to rice is bubbles.

If cancelled within 90 days of the scheduled event, the security deposit will be refunded. If cancelled more than 90 days before the scheduled event, we retain 25% of your user/rental fee.
